Philip graduated from Newcastle University in 1974. After researching and training in Bristol and Newcastle he was appointed as Professor of Oral Pathology at the University of Manchester in 1992. He joined Cellular Pathology at NUTH in 2007.

  • Designated Individual for NUTH’s HTA research licence

Philip has research interests in oral cancer, oral genetic disorders and sentinel node pathology. His specialist practice includes Head and Neck pathology, Bone and Soft tissue pathology and Dermatopathology. He is co-lead of the Newcastle MRC Molecular Node. Philip has published over 250 papers and several textbooks.
