Haley graduated from the University of Sunderland in 2000 and joined the Royal Victoria Infirmary the same year. Haley gained her MSc at the University of Northumbria at Newcastle and is now part of the Blood Transfusion Senior Team at the RVI. Haley is registered with the Health and Care professions Council (HCPC), and is a Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (FIBMS).
