Having trained in Medical Microbiology in India and achieved further training in Clinical Microbiology in the Northern Deanery,UK; Manju has been a microbiology consultant at The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust since 2007. Apart from pursuing challenging infection problems in critical care units, Manju has developed special interest in neurosurgical, spinal, ophthalmogical, neonatal and maternal infections. She provides a strong team support to colleagues in various other specialties which includes infectious diseases, transplant and cancer services. For many years Manju has been an Infection Prevention Control Doctor and feels privileged to be part of a team that works towards the reduction of healthcare associated infections. Manju regularly writes antibiotic policies that promote effective antimicrobial stewardship. She is currently the laboratory medicine directorate lead for clinical governance and quality.
