Qualifications: BSc (Hons), MSc.

Deborah has worked in the Freeman Hospital Microbiology Department since April 2009, having graduated with BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science from Northumbria University in July of 2008. Originally working as an Associate Practitioner, Deborah began working on her IBMS Certificate of Competence before securing a post as a Biomedical Scientist in February 2011.

By 2014 Deborah found that many of her working days were spent in the Serology laboratory, a busy and dynamic area of the laboratory which she very much enjoys being part of. The section consists of team of staff using a variety of analysers to provide an extensive in house catalogue of testing. Key areas include blood borne virus and syphilis confirmatory testing for the region, transplant serology and immunity testing . After embarking on a distance learning MSc course through the University of Ulster; Deborah successfully applied for the Section Leader post in Serology in Spring 2016, before successfully completing her MSc the following year. Deborah is now the Deputy Operations Manager
