Coronavirus COVID-19 Update
The Molecular Department with Microbiology and Virology Services are testing COVID 19 Samples. As you would expect there is a very high turnover, as we are currently testing between 200 and 300 samples a day, 7 days a week from all of the region including North Tees and Hartlepool Hospitals, County Durham and Darlington, Northumbria, Gateshead and Sunderland Hospitals.
In order to focus on performing the test, we kindly ask Service users to not call the Laboratory for COVID 19 Results. Positive results will be phoned out and negative results will be available on e-Record/Open ICE as soon as they are known. Results for the regional hospitals are being communicated via secure email multiples time per day to enable requesting clinicians to liaise to relevant teams.
